Diegesis is still a bit confusion to understand completely but from what I can gather its the internal world of the film. The same world referenced when talking about world building.
Are all of these different techniques actually noticed in film and to what extent do they influence the viewer? I would assume students and professionals within the industry recognize them since it is their passion and their work, however, does the lay-man viewer?
On another somewhat side note I also find the use of examples surprising so far throughout this website. They have been mostly foreign films thus far and it surprises me given the dominance Hollywood has had on the innovation of cinema.
I would liken all these techniques within the film industry mirroring those in writing and literature. Probably closer to literature given the narrative story telling element in both mediums.
